About Ala-Archa National Park

Ala-Archa National Park

Ala-Archa National Park, located in the Tian Shan mountain range of Kyrgyzstan, lies just 40 kilometers south of the capital city, Bishkek. With its diverse ecosystems ranging from steppe to alpine heights, the park covers a vast range that climbs from 1,600 meters to a breathtaking 4,895 meters at Peak Semenov Tien-Shansky. This natural haven provides excellent opportunities for mountaineering, hiking, and wildlife observation. Visitors can explore glaciers, wildflowers, spruce forests, and spot wildlife such as ibex, marmots, and eagles. Originally established as a nature reserve to protect the region's unique environment, the park now attracts both local and international tourists. Popular with trekkers are the Ak-Sai Glacier and the Uchitel Peak, each offering breathtaking panoramas and challenging climbs. During winter, the park transforms into a snowy wonderland for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The park's proximity to Bishkek offers an accessible retreat for both short day trips and extended exploration.
